Mustangs & Protecting Your Horse From Thieves

Plus a Fun Contest!

Somehow it is March already, and sure enough, as I sit here at my desk, the month is roaring in like a lion, with violent storms lashing out not only here in Florida, but across a good chunk of the U.S.

In a win for mustangs, a federal court ruled in favor of mustangs and burros, and overturned the BLM’s Adoption Incentive Program, which was a horrible program that ultimately sent federally protected mustangs and burros into the slaughter pipeline. This was a lawsuit brought about by the American Wild Horse Conservation, which argued that the “BLM violated multiple federal laws when it implemented the AIP without proper environmental and public review.”

In other news:

Recently a video was released on YouTube by WUFT News called Death In the Dark. This sad video highlights the illegal horse slaughter industry in Florida, and I urge everyone to watch it. Don’t worry, it isn’t graphic, and if you are not aware of what has been happening in Florida, it is important to watch. You can access the link here: Death in the Dark - YouTube

As a resident of Florida, I have been vigilant about protecting my horses and donkeys from the illegal slaughter trade. Nobody should have to worry about waking up to find their beloved horse missing from its stall, only to find its remains, brutally butchered on the property, as has happened to horse owners throughout the state. After a rash of such thefts occurred in 2019-2020, I blogged about how to keep your horse safe. If you need a refresher, or are not sure how to protect your horse, here is the link: Protecting Your Horses From Thieves
